After a rough first visit to Cottage Grove Speedway on Friday nite, the 67 South Coast Construction/Gooneys Sports Bar/ Oregon Tool & Supply Rocket Dirt late model returned to Coosbay Speedway on Sat. nite to resume a tough points battle with points leader Kelly McIntyre.
The Nite started out good with 2nd fast time in qualifying, and a 2nd place finish in the trophy dash, the evening turned ugly in the heat race as the two point leaders got together coming out of turn 2 with the # 67 Gooneys Rocket on the outside and the 02 of point leader Kelly Mcintyre on the inside there was heavy contact with outside wall that resulted in the #67 SouthCoast Construction/Oregon Tool &Supply Rocket sustaining heavy damage and being forced to the pits for repairs. The South Coast/Gooneys Crew went to work to repair the Rocket Chassis as best as they could to return to action for the main event. the main started with the Gooneys Sports Bar/Oregon Tool & Supply Rocket at the back of the field, as the green flag flew, the #67 rocket Steadily moved toward the front eventually taking the lead on lap 7 and never looking back as Driver Mike George lapped the field up to the 4th place position before taking the checkered flag
for his 4th win a row and gaining valuable points on point leader Mcintyre. The #67 DLM was dissassembled and repairs were started on Monday Morning as all required parts were ordered
to be delivered in time to get the car repaired for next weekends action at Coosbay Speedway, as the Northwest Crate Late Models will be making an appearence for a weekend full of racing action
that will see the #67 Rocket compete in the local races and the NW Crate series races at the fast 1/4 mile dirt oval.
