Mike George accepts Trophy

Sat Oct 30,2010

On Sat night Oct 30, at the Autumn House Resturant The Coosbay Speedway held its annual
Awards ceremony and banquet to celebrate the 2010 Track Champions, The evening started of with a video presentation of the season highlights and a few words from the Track manager and
owner of the speedway, The first class awards were the 4 cylinder class with tom Siewell taking home the honors in a close battle over "The Hurricane" Mark Hannah. Next up was the Street Stock class that was seperated by mere points with Toby McIntyre taking the Title over "The Preacher" Andy Smelzer. The Street Stock class was looking like a runaway the first half of the season as " The Preacher was running away with the points lead, as the season wore on , "The Preacher" had prior commitments that and that allowed Toby McIntyre to close the points gap and on the last race of the season secure the Championship.

The LateModel/Sportsman Class was defined by good competition all season long as Mike "The Hammer" George Won his second consecutive Championship in the #67 SouthCoast Construction
Gooneys Sports bar/Oregon Tool and Supply Rocket.Coming in 2nd Place was Dave Foote who
just squeezed by the ageless wonder "Father Time" Kelly McIntyre. With Mike George and Kelly McIntyre both bringing out new cars at the halfway point of the season, and McIntyre holding the edge in points and Mike "The Hammer" missing a race to run on the asphalt, the points race was close to insurmountable as McIntyre was on top of his game," The rocket explodes", with Boone Creek Racing Team debuting a new Rocket Chassis the team made a commitment to try and win the Championship, on the strength of 6 wins in the last 8 races the
South Coast Construction/Gooneys Sports Bar Rocket captured the Title in exciting fashion in the last race of the season just narrowly eclipsing Foote and McIntyre in one of the closest points battles in Speedway history.
